Our Vision

Prakriti intends to provide an environment where children develop a lifelong love for learning. The guiding principle for Prakriti is – nothing can be taught – it can be only be learnt – by experiencing, by igniting a desire within to learn, and by showing the path to discovery when that desire is ignited.

Formal education today is mainly focused on dissemination of facts to children from a very early age, without any regard to their readiness for it, and without any effort to encourage them to think independently. A child who is able to conform to the standards set by the school/ institution is accepted; outliers are branded and rejected.

Prakriti aims to encourage holistic education by incorporating art and craft, music and dance, drama and sports in its curriculum in a manner that encourages creative thinking, progress at one’s pace, and does not expect children to conform to externally imposed standards.

Guiding Principles

Respect for the child

within the loosely structured curriculum of the school, children have the freedom to choose the activity they want to engage in, the teacher acts as a facilitator – guiding, engaging, communicating, observing, but not interfering.

Each activity has a purpose

to encourage the development of the child in a manner that the child is ready for, that encourages free thinking, expression of creativity, without the conditioning of adults.

Children develop their unique potential

not by being taught, but by experiencing and internalizing. Nothing can be learnt unless there is a desire to learn it.

Bonding with and respecting nature

and the harmonious existence of all its creations holds valuable lessons for children. Sensitizing the children to nature is an important part of education at Prakriti.

Expression of the self

body, mind, emotion and spirit through art, music and dance, theatre, sports – is an integral part of the curriculum.

Physical education

is achieved not by pushing children into skill-based sports at a young age, but by providing lots of opportunity for free play that includes challenging activities, and constant encouragement to build confidence.

Discipline

is achieved not by imposing it from the outside but by building it from within.

Introduction to academics

in a fun, interesting manner that intuitively appeals to the young mind, and generates a lifelong love for learning.

The ability to think independently

be a confident decision maker, concentrate, and resolve conflict.

Practical spirituality

emphasizing inner peace and compassionate action.
